Ipoh Starwalk was held last Sunday which was the 21st of June 2009. And oh boy! There were a lot of participants. Most of them were in the non-competition category.
This year, I had decided to challenge myself a little. So I joined the competition category. ^^-
I hold no hope of winning any prize except for getting the certificate and that meant I had to complete the 10km walk under 100 minutes.
Registration was open in March if I'm not mistaken. I filled in this form and submitted to the Star. ^^-

And so, few days before the big walk I asked Jin Yuen to help me collect my goody bag as well as my mother's. Somehow, the person handed the wrong sized shirt to Jin Yuen. So I got XL instead of L. =.=|| Luckily my mother's shirt was the right size, M. Also, it's lucky that the shirt was just longer instead of wider. So, I still could wear it. XD
And so, the big walk came at last. When I opened my eyes, the sun was bright. It almost felt like it was 10.00am. I rushed to the clock and looked at it. It really WAS 10.00am. I ran out to the living room and found my parents there. I asked why didn't they wake me up for the walk and they said, "Call you also no response. Now finish already lor."
I got a big shock. My mouth was wide open. Then, my cousin sister came in with her parents. They were holding out certificates from the walk. My mouth went wider. "They didn't even register for the walk! How could they get the certificate???" a voice boomed in my head. I was speechless. Really speechless. Then everything turned black.
I heard someone calling me. I opened my eyes. The whole room was dark. I sat up in confusion. "Wait, that was a dream wasn't it?" I mumbled to myself. I saw the clock and it read 5.45am. I got out of bed and walked to the kitchen to brush my teeth. "That was really a dream wasn't it?" I questioned myself, still uncertain of which is reality.
"Ei, where did you put my shirt ah?" my mother asked.
At that moment, I just confirmed that the present moment is reality. I pointed to the white shirt dangling at the edge of a yellow plastic chair. "Neh! There also cannot see. Sakai," I teased her.
She pouted and made a funny sound, snatched up the shirt and went into her room to change. I, myself changed too and took out my cap, handphone, some money and food candies. They were all stuffed into my pocket. Then, I had bread and milo for breakfast. Urgh! Bread for breakfast never did taste good.
Note to self: Always eat bread later in the morning.
Then we set out. My father drove us there. Before we even reached the stadium, the whole road was already jammed with vehicles. The stadium was brightly lit with the stadium lights. We got down some distance away from the stadium and walked there. I had to escort my mother half-way to the velodrome. Then I myself had to walk to the competition category reporting center which is the track and field area. How unfortunate of me who thought that I could take the short cut by going through it instead of going one big circle around it. I had to go around it.
When I traded my reporting ticket with an orange band, I stood around feeling alone. T^T Maybe I made a mistake for entering the competition category. I saw some participants walking back to the starting line and I followed them. Oh, that was such a big mistake! We were supposed to wait in the stadium but no one told us that except for the emcee which was at the starting line. *sigh* I had to walk back to the stadium.
Before the race started, I'm already starting to feel tired. That's not good. In the stadium, I saw Putt and Estee but we splitted when they directed us out of the stadium to the starting line. We started the race at about 7.20am perhaps? I'm not sure. But we started.

I was somewhere waaaayyy behind. T^T
Then it's all walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk...and some more walk walk walk walk walk.
I had my handsfree connected to my handphone for radio. Too bad my phone is not advanced enough to store songs. XD But a radio is good enough.
So, during the walk, my legs ached, my shirt got soaked in my sweat and I saw some funny things. The bands, some wore them on the wrist (supposed to be there), some on their hair, some on their fingers, some hold them casually, some put them in their bag. But I saw this guy who was from the non-competition category. He had his blue band around his left ear. I looked at it not knowing to laugh or to frown. LOL.
Then, there was also the group of friends. Well, most people walk in groups of friends. I saw this group after taking some water provided along Tambun Road. One guy splashed water on his friend. I snickered a little and went on walking.
Then, there was also the spectators. As we walked through the residential area, some old folks were standing at their front doors and watched the big group of people walk past their house. I thought to myself, "What's so nice to watch a group of sweaty people walking?"
Then there was also the dirty people. I do not mean that literally though. I meant it as in cheating and littering. Every year, there's definitely some lazy people who takes short cuts here and there and litter bugs who throws their plastic drink cups at the side of the road. There's no difference in that this year.
Yada yada yada...when I was closing in to the stadium, my mum caught up with me. It's a little embarassing to have someone older than you and started 10-15 minutes later than you to catch up to you. XP
My mum told me that she fell and pointed to me her bleeding knee. T^T When we reached the stadium and got our certificates, I took her to the PBSM to get it treated. Then, we went around the stalls there.
The Milo line was long and somehow from 2 lines, it converged into a single line. *raises eyebrow* I saw Yen and Kang Ye there. Kang Ye did not see me though. >.>
The Milo was delicious as always. I love Milo. XD Then we went to get free Spritzer mineral water. Got 2 bottles each and we lined up for a game at the Magnum stall.

You have to throw 4 ping pong balls into the orange/yellow part of the painted egg cartons.
1 ball - a Magnum pen
2 balls - a Magnum notepad
3 balls - I dunno.
I only got one ball in. T^T My mum got 2. SOBX!!!!
Then I lined up for popcorn. Yummy popcorn at the Digi stall. Then, I wanted to line up for the Pallas Spin & Win game. But the line was crazily long and it's not moving.

Yea...then we went into the air-conditioned hall. It was crowded. Real crowded. There were some people singing. Oh boy~they can't sing well. Tsk tsk tsk. There was also a ballet performance of "The Sound of Music". On contrary of enjoying the dance, I enjoyed the songs. I grew up watching "The Sound of Music". ^^-

There was also a performance by some dancers from Motion Masterz. I did not watch them because the moves and steps are so cliched. I watched it plenty of times. But I'm not saying they're not good though.
We stayed for the lucky draw to end hoping that our numbers would be called out at least for one prize. Unfortunately, neither our numbers were called. T^T We went home right after that. Had a shower, lunch and nap.
Oh yea...I found Pn Pung's picture in the Star Online.

Ahahah. Those 2 girls are her daughters and the guy is her husband. ^^- I see that they are eating popcorns. XD
Ah well...that's all I supposed. ^^-
